Tarek and Christina El Moussa agree to joint child custody

People in Pennsylvania and across the country quickly fell in love with HGTV stars Christina and Tarek El Moussa on their popular show "Flip or Flop." Through the camera, the couple seemed to be a strong married couple who not only shared a marriage but also a successful business together. Unfortunately, their marriage suffered hardships, and they recently finalized their divorce. The couple shares two children, and part of their child custody agreement has been revealed.

The 34-year-old parents became well known as they renovated old homes while being televised. Viewers enjoyed watching to see if the couple's investment would pay off once the house sold or if the investment would flop and lose them money. Sadly, their marriage flopped as some of their houses did, but as part of their divorce agreement, they agreed to amicably co-parent their children.

The couple formally agreed not to discuss the other parent negatively in front of their children and to strive to prevent their children from hearing negative remarks about either parent from extended family or friends. Each parent will have the children equal times of the week, and each will have the children one entire weekend out of the month. Their agreement also established boundaries for summer vacations; the children will spend no more than 14 days consecutively with one parent. Both former spouses also agreed to inform the other parent of their vacation plans no later than the first of May of each year.

Many parents are able to make amicable agreements with each other following a difficult divorce, and many are able to co-parent successfully. It may take work and patience, but it can be a reality and can be in the best interest of the children involved. Pennsylvania family law attorneys can assist parents with negotiating similar child custody agreements when desired.
