High asset divorce may become epic battle

People in Pennsylvania may find it charming to hear of a couple reaching anniversary milestones of 50 years or more. However, there is at least one marriage that survived almost 60 years with very little charm. As this couple prepares for a high asset divorce, they may be wishing they had signed a prenuptial agreement all those years ago.

Those who know the couple say they fought throughout their marriage, and the upcoming dispute over their assets is just another battle. The couple's fortune was made through multi-million dollar real estate deals. They also possess $1 billion in artwork, which is in the wife's name. Some say this is a major source of contention between them. Years ago, the husband was forced to sell his most valuable piece of real estate to pay off billions in debt because she allegedly refused to sell the art.

While never an ideal relationship, the animosity reached its climax after the 79-year-old husband decided to go public with his girlfriend. Allegedly, he had been keeping a secret apartment for her for over two years and had been seen in various resorts across the country with her. The man has announced that he is moving in with the girlfriend.

Prenuptial or post nuptial agreements may relieve some of the complications in a high asset divorce. However, in this case, it seems the battle may be prolonged and ugly since neither side indicates a willingness to compromise. Those in Pennsylvania who are facing high asset divorces would benefit from having an experienced attorney beside them to make sure their rights are protected.
