How is Child Support Determined in PA?
Pennsylvania has guidelines for determining how much support should be paid in child support and spousal support cases.
The laws involved with regard to these issues can be found in the Pennsylvania Rules of Civil Procedure section 1910.1 through 1910.50. In certain instances these rules can be complicated at best. Income, custody schedules, monthly mortgage payments, medical expenses, health insurance and union dues are only a few of the issues that become relevant in determining the amount of support that is required under the Pennsylvania Guidelines for Child Support.
It is important to consult with an attorney prior to going to a support hearing. There are many factors that may be considered in your case. An experienced attorney can discuss these factors with you and give you advice on how to proceed. Remember - everyone's case is different.

Can I file for Divorce In Pennsylvania?
In order to file for divorce in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania either of the parties must have resided in the Commonwealth for a period of more than six months prior to filing a complaint for divorce.
What is Probate?
Legal procedures are the furthest thing from your mind when a loved one passes away. There are many issues, however, that need to be addressed when a person dies - whether or not the person's family is ready to deal with these issues.
Probate, also known as Estate Administration, is the process that occurs after a person dies and prior to his or her asssets being distributed. The process consists of gathering the decedent's assets, paying final bills, calculating estate and/or inheritance taxes, following the legal requirements as stated in the Pennsylvania Estate and Fiduciary Code, and making distribution to the heirs.
Being prepared by hiring an attorney with Probate experience allows the process to be implemented smoothly. It provides you or your loved ones with peace of mind knowing that the probate process will be handled as required by law and that all legal deadlines will be met.

When should I update my will?
Over time, we learn that the only sure thing in life is that there will be change. Sometimes we become complacent and don't consider the important details that need to be addressed in our lives.
There are certain events in your life that should be a signal that you need to review your estate plan. Your will, living will, and powers of attorney should always reflect your current life situation, not the one you had five years ago or even the one you had a year ago.
There are several life events that should trigger you to review your Estate Plan.
- Marriage
- New Baby
- Acquiring substantial assets
- Divorce
- New Step Children
- Recent name change
- Death in the family
As part of your Estate Plan, financial, healthcare and end of life issues should all be addressed. This may include the need for a will, trust or financial and healthcare powers of attorney. It is best to consult with an attorney who practices in the area of estate planning so that your individual circumstances can be reviewed and a proper estate plan can be developed to fit your individual needs.
